    Mariah Carey almost had birthday babies! The singer rushed to the hospital last night because she started having contractions, but it turns out her twins weren't quite ready to make their debut.

    She tweeted in the flurry of rushing to the ER: "really wanted 2 celebrate w/us/share the anniversary! I started having contractions last night..went 2 the hospital."

    Ms. Carey later wrote: "They almost came on 3/27- happy anniversary in deed!!! We have a few more weeks 2 go but- wow!!!: ) #soreadyallready!"

    (We'd like to note that Mariah's birthday is March 27, not her anniversary, but, hey, whatever!)

    Her hubby Nick Cannon is gearing up for the birth of the babies, and is a little nervous about the big day. He tweeted last week: "I am probably going to faint in the delivery room! I need to man up! Or maybe I should say WOMAN UP since they are the ones that have to be the strongest in the whole ordeal! I am in awe of my wife!"



    Mariah Carey Mariah Carey, wearing stiletto heels and blue sweats, is accompanied by husband Nick Cannon to a medical building in LA. The 40 year old singer recently renewed her wedding vows with Cannon in front of about 100 guests at their home in Beverly Hills on May 3rd.
